About Shorts Magazine

Shorts is a free online magazine which launched in February 2020 with the aim of bringing together writers and creative artists from all over the world. Shorts particularly encourages submissions from marginalised communities, and from new and emerging writers.

Shorts was established in a time of growing isolationism on the part of the UK and the US, and aims to combat this by uniting global creatives and nurturing unheard voices. It is an LGBTQ+ friendly platform with a liberal outlook.

Shorts is produced by the writer and poet Marnie Devereux in northern Arizona, US.

New Favicon!

Shorts magazine now has its own favicon! What’s a favicon? It’s the little icon that sits in the corner of a tab when you open a website; in this case, the smart little blue and white ‘s’ which you can see at the top of the page. Neat, isn’t it?

Coronavirus Special!

I’ve received many positive comments about issue #1, thank you! Now, since many of us unexpectedly have some free time on our hands, I’m putting together an interim edition, rather than wait for issue #2 in the spring. So, OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: short stories, essays, articles, research topics, photography, poetry, reviews, interviews, top ten, any other ideas…if I like it, I’ll print it!

Submissions to: editor.shorts @gmail.com as soon as you like.

Welcome to Shorts magazine!

Welcome to the first issue of a brand-new venture! Shorts is your forum for commentary, opinion, essays, new short fiction, poetry, photography, reviews and interviews. In this edition you can read short fiction from UK authors Paul Toolan and Angela Huskisson, and poetry from across two continents. We feature beautiful, original images from around the world, and articles to make you contemplate, consider, and laugh out loud. All for free!
Please let us know what you think of Shorts. We’d love to hear from you, and will include your feedback in issue #2!

Send your input to: editor.shorts@gmail.com

I hope you enjoy Shorts and look forward to hearing from you!
